PMMA Entrance Exam 2026 (Class 2031): Nov 6 Deadline, Nov 28 Exam, Requirements & Testing Centers

Deadline: November 6, 2026 (Friday). The PMMA Class 2031 entrance exam is on November 28, 2026 (Saturday). Apply online at admissions.pmma.edu.ph. Application fee: ₱500.00 (non-refundable).

The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) is accepting applications for Class 2031 (Academic Year 2027–2028). Applications are filed online through the official admission portal, admissions.pmma.edu.ph.

In its latest admission advisory, PMMA said it is still accepting applications. Online application opened on August 11, 2026, and the deadline for submission is November 6, 2026 (Friday). The entrance examination is on November 28, 2026 (Saturday) at all designated testing centers nationwide. The application fee is ₱500.00 and is non-refundable.

PMMA is the country’s premier state maritime academy. It trains future deck and engineering officers for the merchant marine and future officers of the Philippine Navy and Philippine Coast Guard.

Last Cycle Recap: PMMA Class 2030

For reference, here is how the previous cycle went. These dates are for Class 2030 and are not the Class 2031 schedule.

• Entrance exam: January 31, 2026. PMMA said 8,472 applicants took the exam in 33 testing centers.
• Results: released April 9, 2026. Examinees viewed their results by logging in to their dashboard on admissions.pmma.edu.ph.
• Oath-taking: the new Class 2030 midshipmen and midshipwomen took their oath in July 2026.

Benefits of Being a PMMA Midshipman

PMMA midshipmen are government scholars. They get free tuition, board and lodging.

Midshipmen also go through shipboard training on international ocean-going vessels, which gives them an edge in the maritime industry.

Graduates earn a bachelor’s degree in a maritime field. Career paths include master mariner, chief engineer, shipping executive, naval or coast guard officer, and maritime educator.

PMMA Admission Process

Applicants go through these stages:

1. Online application
2. PMMA Entrance Examination
3. Neuro-psychological evaluation
4. Medical screening
5. One-month orientation training
6. Appointment as midshipman or midshipwoman

Only a small share of examinees make it through every stage, so prepare well for each step.

Who Can Apply: Basic Qualifications

According to PMMA’s Qualification Requirements, applicants must be:

• Male or female, physically fit, natural-born Filipino citizen
• Single, never been married, and with no children out of wedlock
• Not accused or convicted of any crime against the law and the state
• At least 17 and not more than 23 years old upon enrollment on August 1
• A Grade 12 student or college level
• At least 160 cm (5’3″) tall for males and 155 cm (5’1″) for females
• With a BMI of less than 25
• With at least good academic performance
• Never enrolled in PMMA before

GROUNDS FOR MEDICAL DISQUALIFICATION

FOR MALE APPLICANTS:

For Male applicants, the following are ground for disqualification:

1. Undescended testicles
2. Absence of one or both testicles
3. Suspicious enlargement of testis or epididymis
4. Varicocele
5. Redundant prepuce
6. Height less than 5ft & 3 inches

While for Female applicants are the following:

 FOR FEMALE APPLICANTS:

1. History of childbirth/lactation
2. Pregnancy
3. Irregular menstrual cycle including menorrhagia
4. Dysmenorrhea incapacitating to a degree that necessitates recurrent absences
5. Ovarian cyst, persistent and considered clinically significant
6. New growth of the external and internal genitalia, e.g. myoma of the uterus
7. Breast mass
8. Endometrioses unless surgically eradicated or controlled
9. Cervicitis, acute or chronic
10. Generalized enlargement of the uterus due to any cause
11. Cervical polyps
12. Height: less than 5ft & 1 inch

BOTH FOR MALE AND FEMALE APPLICANTS:

1. Lordosis, kyphosis, and scoliosis (thoracic & lumbar) regardless of the angle
2. Bowlegged/knocked knee (Severe)
3. Pes Planus (flat-footed) – Severe
4. Arthritis, acute or subacute
5. Underweight or overweight. Applicants must attain a computed body mass index of less than 25 upon physical examination for both male and female applicants.
6. Severe skin diseases: bacterial, fungal, or viral in nature. Excessive acne. Warts and all skin diseases must be cured prior to the medical exam.
7. Leprosy in any form
8. Tattoo/hypertrophic tattoo scars causing disfigurement, and extensive keloid scars especially in the facial area.
9. Gross physical deformity asymmetry whether congenital due to trauma or disease including extra or missing appendages (i.e.fingers)
10. Errors of refraction of eyes (near-sighted, far-sighted, astigmatism), cross-eyed, and other ocular disorders.
11. Visual Acuity of less than 20/30 OU
12. Wearing contact lenses and eyeglasses
13. Color blindness/defective color perception (Ishihara – perfect for BSMT and 2 mistakes for BSMarE)
14. Deafness/perforated eardrum
15. Severe or chronic otitis media
16. Impacted cerumen (must be removed prior to medical exam)
17. Chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps
18. Hypertension, abnormal ECG tracings (e.g. AV blocks, bundle branch blocks, ischemia, infarctions, arrhythmia tachycardia, bradycardia, etc.), heart abnormalities, and diseases.
19. Active PTB, massive pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary infarctions, pneumonitis, bronchopneumonia, atelectasis, and other lung diseases.
20. History of Asthma
21. Lymphadenopathy
22. Epilepsy, seizures, syncope, and vertigo
23. Anemia and blood dyscrasia
24. Hyperthyroidism (goiter) Hypothyroidism
25. Diabetes Mellitus
26. Hepatitis B whether active or inactive
27. Gallstones
28. Chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, duodenal ulcers, and other GIT problems
29. History of major operations within the preceding 6 months
30. External/internal hemorrhoids and fissures, fistula-in-ano
31. Old or recent fractures wherein internal fixation plates, and screws are left in place which may be easily subjected to trauma
32. Sexually transmitted diseases i.e. HIV, gonorrhea & non-gonococcal urethritis & syphilis
33. Hernia
34. Renal diseases and stones
35. No current or Maintenance Medication (such as for hypertension, asthma, epilepsy, seizures, syncope, vertigo etc.)

 DENTAL DISQUALIFICATIONS:

1. Cleft palate and Cleft lip
2. Malocclusion

2.1 Class II
2.2 Class III
2.3 Lateral crossbite

3. Open bite
4. Tongue-tied which may interfere with speech, breathing, swallowing, and eating
5. Missing four anterior/posterior (front teeth/molar teeth)
6. A complete upper or lower denture
7. Impacted tooth/teeth
8. Facial asymmetry
9. Wearing of orthodontic brackets or any orthodontic appliances
10. Oral tumors or cysts

PMMA Application Requirements

Prepare these files before you open the portal. PMMA asks for:

• A recent 2×2 colored photo with name tag, front view, white background
• A copy of your PSA Birth Certificate (see how to get a PSA birth certificate online)
• Current Grade 12 students: certification from your school principal
• Grade 12 graduates or 1st-year college: photocopy of your SHS diploma or Grade 12 report card
• Currently enrolled in college: registration form or certified true copy of grades
• College graduates: diploma or Transcript of Records

Your CENOMAR and NBI Clearance are not needed when you apply. PMMA asks for them upon enrollment as a probationary midshipman or midshipwoman. (See our guide on NBI Clearance online application.)

How to Apply Online

PMMA no longer uses the old PIMS portal for admission. Submit your application by November 6, 2026. Official guide: PMMA Application Procedure. Follow these steps:

1. Use a desktop or laptop with a stable internet connection.
2. Go to admissions.pmma.edu.ph and create your account.
3. Fill out the application form completely, upload your requirements and pay the ₱500.00 non-refundable application fee.
4. Choose your testing center carefully. PMMA does not allow transfers to another testing center after you apply.
5. Watch your email and portal account for your test permit and updates.

Beware of scams. PMMA only uses official @pmma.edu.ph email addresses. Ignore messages from Gmail or other free email accounts that claim to be from PMMA. Official updates are posted only on www.pmma.edu.ph and the official PMMA Facebook page.

PMMA Entrance Exam Coverage

The exam on November 28, 2026 is all objective-type and covers what a graduating senior high school student should know (see PMMA’s Entrance Examination page):

• English: vocabulary, grammar, analogy and reading comprehension
• Mathematics: algebra, geometry, statistics and trigonometry
• Science: general science, chemistry and physics
• Abstract Reasoning

Exam-Day Reminders

Qualified applicants receive their test permit by email. On exam day:

• Arrive at least one hour before the exam.
• Bring your test permit with your 2×2 photo attached.
• Bring a valid ID and a Mongol No. 2 pencil.
• Calculators are not allowed.
• Wear casual clothes. Sleeveless shirts, shorts and slippers are not allowed.

PMMA Exam Results

PMMA posts result announcements on its website and official Facebook page. Examinees view their individual results by logging in to their account on the admissions portal.
