National Academy of Sports Scholarship 2027–2028: Eligibility, Benefits, Requirements and How to Apply

Updated October 29, 2026. The National Academy of Sports (NAS), an institution attached to the Department of Education, offers a scholarship-based secondary education program combining academics with competitive sports training at its campus in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac. Its annual NASCENT SAS search is intended for talented young Filipino student-athletes.

2027–2028 application advisory: NAS scholarship opportunities are worth preparing for now. However, the official NAS application page accessible during our October 29 check still displays School Year 2025–2026 information. The previously reported October 7, 2026 opening and March 5, 2027 deadline have not been independently confirmed on a current official NAS page. Please verify the active intake and exact deadlines directly with NAS before submitting an application. This guide will be updated when NAS publishes its current cycle-specific notice.

Who can qualify for the NAS scholarship?

Based on the NAS-published eligibility framework, candidates generally must:

  • Be natural-born Filipino citizens.
  • Be incoming Grade 7 or Grade 8 student-athletes (currently Grade 6 or Grade 7, respectively, at application).
  • Meet age limits of not older than 14 for incoming Grade 7 and 15 for incoming Grade 8 at the start of the school year.
  • Have a general weighted average of at least 80%.
  • Demonstrate athletic potential and good health for rigorous training.

Eligibility details and dates may change for SY 2027–2028; use the latest official application form.

What sports does NAS offer?

NAS lists eight focus sports: swimming, athletics, badminton, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, table tennis, taekwondo (poomsae and kyorugi), and weightlifting. Applicants in other sports should consult NAS about current eligibility and focus-sport selection requirements.

Scholarship benefits

Based on NAS scholarship information from previous school years, benefits may include full tuition and miscellaneous fees, meals and accommodation, a monthly stipend, sports uniforms and equipment, loaned learning materials, counseling, sports facilities, medical and rehabilitation support, and participation expenses for approved competitions. Actual benefits depend on the scholarship agreement, NAS policies and available funds. Renewal is subject to academic and athletic performance.

Documents to prepare

NAS’s previously published checklist includes a PSA birth certificate, valid government-issued ID of the designated guardian, recent report cards, and required NAS forms. For incoming Grade 7, earlier instructions requested Grade 5 and Grade 6 records; for incoming Grade 8, Grade 6 and Grade 7 records. Verify the new cycle’s exact required quarters, forms and submission channels before applying.
