Postal ID Requirements 2022 and Application Guide

A postal Id is one of the valid government IDs that are accepted in some transactions like passport applications, opening a bank account, claiming money remittance, and checkpoint ID. This is one of the easiest IDs to get in the Philippines. If you need one, here is our guide which includes the requirements, fees, and application process.

Who can apply for a Postal ID?

Every Filipino living in the Philippines and living abroad but were in the Philippines at the time of application are eligible to get a Postal ID. Foreign residents living in the country for at least six (6) months may also apply.

Postal ID Requirements 2022

Before going to any of the post office branches, you should prepare your requirements.

Bring the original copy and photocopy of the following documents:

I. Two (2) copies of the duly-accomplished Postal ID application form

Fill out the application form.

II. PROOF OF IDENTITY – Submit any one (1) of the following:

  • Birth Certificate Issued by NSO or Local Civil Registry
  • GSIS or SSS UMID Card
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Valid Passport

Married females must bring their marriage certificate to validate the change of name from the birth document.

Applicants with no Birth Certificate, UMID Card, Driver’s License, or Passport may submit ANY TWO (2) of the following documents, at least one of which should bear the applicant’s photo and signature:

III. PROOF OF ADDRESS – Submit any one (1) of the following:

  • Barangay Certificate of Residency issued within three (3 months) prior to PID application
  • Certified True Copy of Lease
  • Certified True Copies of Titles issued by the Land Registration Authority (LRA)
  • Certified True Copy of Real Estate Tax Receipt
  • Bank Statement
  • Credit Card Statement
  • School Billing Statement
  • Utility Bill (cable, electric, internet, landline, telephone, water)

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS OF FOREIGN RESIDENTS

For foreign residents, the following documents are needed:
1. Two (2) copies of the duly-accomplished application form
2. PROOF OF IDENTITY
a. Passport – must be valid for at least six (6) months prior to application
b. Anyone (1) of the following documents relative to the stay in the Philippines valid for at least six (6) months prior to the application

  • Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACRI-Card)
  • Long Stay Visitor Visa Extension (LSVVE)
  • Temporary Resident Visa (TRV)
  • Diplomatic Visa
  • Special Resident Retiree’s Visa (SRRV)

3. PROOF OF ADDRESS – Submit any one (1) of the following:

  • Barangay Certificate of Residency – issued within three (3) months prior to PID application
  • Certification or statement of account from the hotel, transient home, or any temporary residence within three (3) months prior to application
  • Certification from the hotel, transient home, or any temporary residence within three (3) months prior to application
  • Notarized, if applicable, Land, House, or Condominium Lease Contract
  • Bank statement
  • Credit card statement
  • School billing statement
  • Utility bill (cable, electric, internet, landline, telephone, water)

Requirements for Renewal or replacements without change in Biographic data

  • Two (2) copies of the duly-accomplished PID application Form
  • Original and photocopy of Improved or Basic Postal ID card, whichever is applicable

Requirements due to loss and/or theft of Postal ID

  • Two (2) copies of the duly-accomplished PID application Form
  • Duly notarized Affidavit of Loss

Requirements for Renewal or replacements due to changes in Biographic data

  • Two (2) copies of the duly-accomplished PID application Form
  • Original and photocopy of Improved or Basic Postal ID card, whichever is applicable
  • Additional requirements to support the amendment/change in biographic data​

How much is the Postal ID?

You need to prepare a total of Php 504 when you want to get a Postal ID. The postal ID card plus the delivery fee is worth 450 pesos. The 12% VAT costs 54 pesos.

On the other hand, if you want to rush, there are branches that offer a rush which cost Php650 inclusive VAT.

How to get a Postal ID?

  1. ​Prepare your requirements and go to the nearest post office.
  2. After your requirements are approved, proceed to the nearest ID capture station for a fingerprint and photograph. There are over 260 IDs captured nationwide in designated post offices and selected malls.
  3. After completion of the ID data capture process, it will be delivered to you via your mailing address. For Metro Manila approximately 10-15 working days while in provinces and remote barangays, it may take 4 to 5 weeks.

Postal ID Online application is still not possible today. Applicants should visit their nearest post office branch.
