The Supreme Court of the Philippines has recently announced the dates for the upcoming 2024 Bar Examinations. The 2024 exams will be held on September 08, 11, and 15 which fall on two Sundays and a Wednesday. These dates provide aspiring lawyers with a timeline to plan and allocate their study time effectively.

Justice Mario Lopez, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, has been appointed as the chairperson for the mandated examinations.

The application period for the 2024 Bar Examinations shall be from January 15, 2024, to April 5, 2024.

The objective of the bar exams is to assess candidates’ practical skills, analytical abilities, ethical conduct, professionalism, empathy for clients, and commitment to public service. The questions are designed to evoke problem-solving skills and demonstrate a deep understanding of legal principles and jurisprudential perspectives.

To succeed in the bar exams, it’s crucial to develop a comprehensive study plan that covers all the subjects and topics outlined in the syllabi provided by the Supreme Court. Allocate ample time for each subject, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Application for Bar Exam

Prospective applicants, individuals who have previously attempted the examination, and those seeking a refresher course without pre-existing accounts on the Supreme Court’s online platform, Bar Applicant Registration System and Tech Assistance (BARISTA), are required to establish their accounts at https://barista.judiciary.gov.ph/.

All applicants must complete or update their profiles, fill out the application form, upload or re-upload digital copies of the necessary documents, and make a payment of P12,800.00 for the application fee using the exclusive modes provided on BARISTA.

Upon receiving notice of the approval of their applications, all applicants must submit printed and signed copies of their application forms, along with physical copies of the mandatory documentary requirements, to the Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC) within ten (10) calendar days.

Additionally, applicants are required to upload digital copies and submit physical copies of any deferred documentary requirements to BARISTA and OBC, respectively, by October 15, 2024.
