Russia is in need of hundreds of household service workers, musicians, and professionals.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that a bilateral labor agreement is not yet finalized between the Philippines and Russia.
He added that both parties have not yet signed the labor agreement and that Russia prefers a government to government processing.
“Medyo mahirap kasi kasama sa deployment ang household service workers,” he mentioned on radio DZMM.
He added that the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration might not be able to manage the volume of documents.
He also expressed warm approval or admiration of Russian employers
. “Mababait ang mga Russo. Sa lahat ng mga na-meet ko na OFW, wala nagrereklamo na minamaltrato, pinagsasamantalahan, kulang sahod. In other words, they are satisfied,” he said.
He also mentioned that the President asked the Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit there to legitimize the status of Overseas Filipino workers in Russia who are working illegally as household workers.
The labor official said interested Filipinos can apply once the labor agreement has been signed and the implementing rules and regulations have been issued.
The minimum salary for a household worker in Russia is P50,000 up to P75,000.
