Nurses entry-level salary grade raises from SG 11 to SG 15

The Department of Budget and Management DBM issues Circular Budget no. 2020-04 which upgrades the entry-level of nurse positions. This means that nurses in public hospitals and health institutions will now receive a higher salary.

Circular Budget no. 2020-04

Under this circular, the Nurse I position is upgraded from Salary Grade 11 to Salary Grade 15 effective January 1, 2020.

The position attributes of the following classes of Nurse positions are
also modified:

Entry-level nurses in public hospitals are now entitled to a salary of P32,053 to P34,801, from a previous wage of P22,316 to P24,391.

Nurse II position will now get SG 17 compared to previous SG15. Nurse III positions from SG 17 now to SG 19. Nurse IV from SG 19 to SG 20. Nurse V from SG 20 to SG 22 and Nurse VI from SG 22 to SG 24.

Coverage

This Circular covers all Nurse positions, whether regular, casual, or
contractual in nature, full-time or part-time, now existing or hereafter created in the national government agencies (NGAs), including SUCs and GOCCs, and in LGUs covered by the Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS) under Republic Act (RA) No. 6758 or the “Compensation and Position Classification Act of 1989, “as amended.

Exclusions

The following positions are not included from the coverage of this Circular:

  • Nurses in government agencies, including GOCCs, that are exempted from RA No. 6758, as amended, as expressly provided in their respective enabling law or charter, and are actually implementing their respective CPCS approved by the President of the Philippines;
  • Nurses in GOCCS covered by the CPCS established by the Governance Commission for GOCCs and approved by the President of the Philippines, under RA No. 10149 or the “GOCC Governance Act of 2011” and
  • Nurses hired without employee-employer relationship and funded fromnon-Personnel Services appropriations/budgets.
