The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) as implemented by the Philippine Statistics Authority opens the online registration for the National ID in the Philippines on April 30, 2021. Accordingly, over 30 million Filipinos have already finished Step 1. This includes collecting demographic information like Name, Sex, Date of birth, Place of birth, Blood type, and Address. As well as optional information like marital status, cell phone number, at email address. But to be able to accommodate more applicants thus they open the online portal for the National ID registration.
National ID Registration in the Philippines
The National ID Registration has 3 steps.

Step 1 is the collection of demographic information and the setting of appointments for Step 2. This can be done online only if you haven’t completed yet the Step 1 registration through the house to house collection.
The second step is capturing biometric information which includes fingerprint, iris scan, a front-facing photograph, and validation ng supporting documents. You need to do this at the registration center that you choose during Step 1. Moreover, you will need your transaction number and your supporting documents.
The last step is the Issuance of PhilSys Number (PSN) and PhilID. Your National ID will be delivered to your address.

To register, visit this link https://register.philsys.gov.ph. Enter your mobile number or your email address and wait for the OTP and Follow the instruction.
For your information, Philsys issues an advisory that their website is experiencing technical difficulties due to an overwhelming number of registrants. You can try to access the website from time to time to check if it’s already working.
The national id system was signed into law in 2018 to harmonize and integrate several redundant ids of the government and make it a single id for all transactions in the government. The PhilSys Act or Philippine Identification System Act includes the Philsys number, full name, facial image, sex, date of birth, blood type, and address.
National Economic and Development Authority Karl Chua said that the national id system would help in fast-tracking the vaccination program as well as the distribution of financial aid during the lockdown. He added that the system will help low-income families to put up their own bank accounts.
