DOTR, LTFRB launches Service Contracting Program for PUV Drivers

The Department of Transportation DOTr in partnership with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) launches the Service Contracting Program for the Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Drivers.

The aim of the program is to provide drivers with more stable income and be able to give incentives to PUV drivers.

What is Service Contracting Program

Under the Service Contracting program, the government will pay the operators and drivers of buses and public transport units a per kilometer fee instead of the usual number of passengers being serviced.

According to DOTR Assistant Secretary for Road Sector Mark Steven Pastor, this kind of program will be more beneficial not only to the driver but also to the commuters. The passengers will be assured of rides at a fixed schedule since the DOTR will pay them based on the no. of kilometers they were able to run. They can leave the station on schedule whether passengers are full or not, eliminating the waiting time for passengers.

If you are a PUV driver and is interested to be a part of the program database, you can apply in two ways.
