The Department of Education will distribute cash allowance to public school teachers this school year 2021-2022. This is in the continuing support of the needs of the teachers who continuously give basic education in times of pandemic.
The DepEd and the Department of Budget and Management have issued Joint Circular to set certain rules in the implementation of DepEd-Office of the Secretary Special Provision No. 11 in the Fiscal Year 2021 General Appropriations Act on Cash Allowance.
In the said Joint Circular, all classroom teachers will be granted 5,000 pesos cash allowance for buying their needs and all needed materials in their teachings, tangible and non-tangible; in the execution of different kinds of study, internet, and other forms of expenses for communication; and their yearly medical examination expense.
According to Secretary Leonor Briones of the Department of Education “With the help of Congress, the Department is continuously pushing for better financial support for our public school teachers. This year is actually the start of the staggering increase for our teachers’ cash allowance who are truly committed to delivering quality education despite the pandemic.
The Cash Allowance will be given to all deserved public school teachers in the opening of the school year or in the line of decision making of the Department of Education or in designated authority in times of emergencies.
Finance Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla mentioned that the date of the opening of classes is important for the release of the Cash Allowance. Also there is transportation and teaching aid allowance for our Alternative Learning Service teachers.
The Circular covers all permanent and non-permanent public school teachers, including all Alternative Learning System Mobile and District ALS Coordinators in all public elementary, junior, and senior high schools, and community learning centers.
