The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has introduced the Digital Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) ID, allowing individual taxpayers to secure a valid government-issued ID online. This eliminates the need to visit Revenue District Offices (RDOs) in person. Here’s a step-by-step guide to obtaining a Digital TIN ID through ORUS.

Eligibility for Digital TIN ID
Individuals who meet the following criteria can apply:
- Existing taxpayers with or without a physical TIN Card.
- Those who have enrolled an account in ORUS (https://orus.bir.gov.ph).
- Taxpayers who have updated their email address with the RDO where they are registered.
Steps to Get a Digital TIN ID
Step 1: Log in to Your ORUS Account
Start by logging into your ORUS account using the email address registered with the BIR. If you don’t have an ORUS account yet, you can create one at ORUS Portal.
If your registered email is outdated, you need to submit BIR Form S1905 via email to your RDO or through the Taxpayer Registration Related Application (TRRA) Portal available under the eServices section of the BIR Website. No physical visit is required.
Step 2: Access Your Digital TIN ID
Once logged in, locate the “Get Your Digital TIN ID” menu and click “View Your Digital TIN ID” to proceed.
Step 3: Upload Your Photo
You must upload a 1×1 photo ID that meets the following requirements:
- Background: White background, without a border.
- Recency: Taken within the last six months.
- Appearance: Front-facing, ears visible, neutral expression or closed-mouth smile.
Failure to follow these specifications may render the Digital TIN ID invalid, meaning it won’t be accepted for transactions. Unrelated images—such as cartoons, animals, or celebrity photos—are subject to penalties.
Step 4: Verify Your Information
Check whether your displayed details are correct and updated. If any information is outdated, update it before proceeding.
Step 5: Generate Your Digital TIN ID
If all information is correct, click “Generate Digital TIN ID.” Once generated, you can access it through:
- The “View Your Digital TIN ID” link.
- The TIN ID button in the navigation page.
You may only generate a new or updated Digital TIN ID once every 30 days. To download your Digital TIN ID, click “Download Digital TIN ID” for a copy you can keep for future transactions.
With these simple steps, you can now obtain your TIN ID online without visiting an RDO, making tax-related processes more convenient.
Important Reminders
- The Digital TIN ID is free and should not be purchased from online sellers.
- It serves as a valid government ID for transactions with government agencies, employers, banks, and financial institutions.
- The authenticity of the Digital TIN ID can be verified online via the QR code in ORUS.
- Taxpayers with a Digital TIN ID are not required to secure a physical TIN Card.
- Misrepresentation or falsification may result in penalties, including fines of at least ₱10,000 and imprisonment.
Updating Your Digital TIN ID
- Taxpayers can regenerate or update their name, address, or RDO in ORUS.
- A new control number will be issued 30 days after the first or last Digital TIN ID generation.
- Updating the photo ID does not generate a new control number.
By following this process, taxpayers can conveniently access their Digital TIN ID without the need to visit a BIR office, ensuring a smooth and efficient registration experience.
