Overview of Yaman ng Kalusugan Program

The Yaman ng Kalusugan Program, known as YAKAP, is the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) enhanced package for primary healthcare.

It offers a broader range of services than before, including consultations, free medicines, and diagnostic tests. The program covers 75 essential medicines for common illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and epileptic seizures.

YAKAP prioritizes preventive care to keep people from getting seriously ill. It provides free cancer screenings like mammograms and colonoscopies, plus laboratory tests to detect chronic diseases early.

PhilHealth is also developing a mobile app to help members access YAKAP services more easily nationwide.

Evolution from Konsulta to YAKAP

The YAKAP program is an upgrade of PhilHealth’s earlier Konsulta service, which started in 2021.

Konsulta focused on accessible primary care by offering medical consultations, health screenings, and essential medicines.

YAKAP expands this by increasing the number of covered medicines and adding new services.

The rebranding to YAKAP reflects the government’s goal to embrace and protect members through more comprehensive healthcare.
