DTI, DOH priced Covid 19 Nasal Swab Test at 3,800-5000

The Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) set the price cap for the Real-time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction RT-PCR (nasal swab) test for Novel Corona Virus.

President Rodrigo Duterte last November 4 ordered a price cap on COVID-19 testing and test kits after reports of expensive swab testing services.

Covid 19 RT PCR Test Price Cap

Under the Joint Administrative Order released by the health and trade departments, the price cap set for public facilities at P3,800 while for private hospitals and laboratories at P4,500 to P5,000.

Fines and Penalties

Non-compliance with the mandated price range for Covid 19 testing will face fines as well as a possibility of license revocation.

First offense: 15 days suspension and fine of P20,000

Second offense: 30 days suspension and fine of P30,000

Third offense: Revocation of license to operate

The order will be effective 15 days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
