DSWD to give financial assistance of 5k-8k for two months

The Department of Social Welfare and Development will provide cash assistance of P5,000- P8,000 for two months to low-income families. They will also give food and nonfood items as part of the Emergency Subsidy Program.

This measure is part of RA 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act which President Duterte signed last March 24, 2020.

The 5k to 8k worth of social amelioration programs shall be computed based on the minimum wage per region.

DSWD Assistance

Assistance of Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS)

The Assistance of Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) provide services to families in a crisis situation. This includes the 5k to 8k financial assistance to help them with their basic needs.

Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA)

The provision of Food and Non-food items (FNFI) is part of the Department’s Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA) to LGU in addressing the food needs of their constituents.

Livelihood Assistant Grants (LAG)

The Livelihood Assistance Grants (LAG) will be given to a beneficiary family of the Department’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) with at least one member of the family who is a worker in the informal sector and was displaced due to the community quarantine.

The family should also be in the endorsed list of the LGU to the DSWD and must undergo the DSWD assessment. The DSWD livelihood assistance will be provided after the quarantine period to aid families to start anew.

Process of giving the assistance

  • The Local Government Unit will prepare the list of target beneficiaries of the social amelioration measures.
The social amelioration program is in line with the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act which grants the executive Department department with special powers to effectively respond to the COVID 19 pandemic.
The social amelioration measure will help alleviate the socio economic impact of the Novel Corona Virus health crisis. 
  • Then the LGU will endorse the complete documentary requirements to the DSWD for verification.
  • A Social Amelioration Card (SAC) will be distributed to the LGU to enable the beneficiaries to access the assistance. This card will capture the family profile. It will also serve as a tool for monitoring so that no duplication on the delivery of services. The DSWD, in addition, will use the list of 4Ps and Unconditional Transfer UCT program to validate the submitted list of the LGU.
