The Securities and Exchange Commission is the one responsible for developing and regulating the capital market and company registration.

It is the national government regulatory agency charged with supervision over the corporate sector, the capital market participants, and the securities and investment instruments market, and the protection of the investing public.

9 Information Officers

SEC is looking for 9 information Officers to be assigned in different areas. It is under a Contract of Service work with a salary of P50,238/month.

The successful applicants will be assigned in the SEC extension office in the following cities: Baguio City, Tarlac City, Legazpi City, Cebu City, Iloilo City, Bacolod City, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, and Zamboanga City.

What Information Officers do?

The Information Officer is responsible for crafting and implementing information, education and communication campaigns in the place of assignment, in line with the overall communication strategies of the SEC.

The role entails communication research, writing, social media content creation and management, and event management.

Accordingly, the Information Officer possesses solid knowledge of the latest trends and best practices in public relations, corporate communication and/or digital marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities

In general, the Information Officer shall:

 Assist in the development and implementation of communication strategies in line with the Commission’s vision and mission;

 Assist in the production of information materials, which may pertain to the accomplishments and projects of his/her office, using plain and simple language;

 Assist in the establishment and management of the SEC social media pages in accordance with the Commission’s overall social media strategy and engagement protocols for social media; and

 Assist in the implementation of public information and investor education programs and advocacies in order to broaden the awareness of stakeholders and the general public of the mandate of the SEC as the champion of investor protection, registrar and overseer of the corporate sector and regulator of the capital market.

In carrying out his/her responsibilities, the Information Officer shall:

 Conduct research to assess the knowledge, awareness, and perception of the Commission in his/her place of assignment;

 Ensure effectiveness of the Commission’s information, education and communication campaigns through localization of materials and activities, determination of effective platforms, audience targeting and benchmarking;

 Establish good working relationships with the media, key opinion leaders, partner organizations and stakeholders;

 Monitor various media channels for news reports concerning and relevant to the SEC and its programs;

 Coordinate with other departments or offices of the SEC in coming up with information materials relating to their programs and activities;

 Produce information materials such as press releases, briefers, fact sheets and other literature on SEC programs and activities;

 Distribute information materials to media and through other means to ensure the widest dissemination of information;

 Prepare and update, as needed, frequently asked questions specific to his/her department/office;

 Respond to queries concerning his/her department/office in person or through telephone and social media;

 Coordinate media interviews and speaking engagements, including preparation of executive briefing materials to help the assigned spokesperson prepare for such engagements;

 Represent his/her office in external events, as instructed; and

 Perform other duties as may be assigned by his/her superiors.

Who are Qualified?

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Development Communication, Communication Arts, Media Studies, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Management, Economics, and other related disciplines

 Experience: At least two years of relevant experience in corporate communication, public relations, brand management, digital marketing, social media marketing, mass media, investor relations, capital market, and other related industries

 Training: Relevant training in development communication, media management, financial and capital markets, general management, and other learning and development interventions relevant to the functions of the position, if any

 Core Competencies: Ability to work harmoniously with others; strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work and make appropriate actions promptly and with minimal supervision

 Organizational Competencies: Ability to organize, lead and manage a team; very good decision-making and analytical skills

 Functional Competencies: Basic knowledge of the laws and regulations implemented by the SEC; suitability to perform the duties and responsibilities enumerated above

 Preferred Competencies: Solid knowledge of SEO/SEM strategies; with digital marketing certifications (such as Facebook Blueprint Certification and Google Analytics Certification); experience in web application development (games and interactive quizzes); proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or other design programs.
