What Is the Minimum Wage?

The minimum wage refers to the lowest amount of remuneration that employers are legally required to pay wage earners for work performed during a specific period.

These rates are determined at a regional level by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards. Factors such as the poverty threshold, prevailing wage rates based on the Labor Force Survey, and socio-economic considerations influence the determination of minimum wage rates.

Itโ€™s important to note that the minimum wage applies to all workers, including full-time, part-time, and contractual employees.
