The minimum wage is a critical factor in ensuring that workers receive fair compensation for their labor. In the Philippines, minimum wage rates are determined by region, considering various factors such as the cost of living, inflation rates, and the economic condition of each area.
We will discuss in this article the minimum wage for Central Visayas Region VII.
Central Visayas: An Overview
Central Visayas, also known as Region VII, is one of the country’s administrative regions. It is located in the central part of the Philippines and comprises four provinces: Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor. This region is known for its vibrant economy, tourism industry, and growing workforce.
Determining the Minimum Wage
The minimum wage in the Philippines is set through the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), which considers recommendations from Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs).
These boards consist of representatives from labor, management, and the government, ensuring a balanced approach to wage setting. The process involves thorough consultations and assessments of various economic factors unique to each region.
