Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE) hires foreign English teachers and teaching assistants for public elementary and junior high schools through the Taiwan Foreign English Teacher Program (TFETP). The program supports Taiwan’s Bilingual 2030 policy, and for 2026 the MOE planned to recruit about 980 foreign English teachers and full-time teaching assistants.
Can Filipinos apply?
Yes, if you meet the requirements. TFETP accepts applicants whose passport country has English as an official or common language, based on the list issued by Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Philippines is on that list.
Salary and benefits (2026)
Foreign English Teacher, depending on highest degree and years of qualifying teaching experience:
- Bachelor’s degree: NT$69,880 to NT$91,470 a month (about US$2,224 to US$2,911)

The 2026/2027 intake closed on June 30, 2026. Service runs from August or September to June or July of the following year, and recruitment for the next school year usually opens early in the year. Watch the TFETP website for the 2027/2028 call.
Apply only through the official TFETP website, and be wary of agents who ask for placement fees.
