The minimum wage is the lowest amount of money that an employer is legally required to pay their employees.
This wage is set by the government to ensure that workers receive a fair and livable wage for their work.
The minimum wage applies to all workers, including full-time, part-time, and contractual workers.
In the Philippines, the minimum wage is determined by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) in each of the 17 regions.
The RTWPBs consider various factors, such as the cost of living, the productivity of workers, the prevailing wage levels, and the economic conditions of the region, when setting the minimum wage rates.
The minimum wage rates vary across regions, sectors, and industries. The sectors are classified into non-agriculture, agriculture, retail/service, and sugar.
The industries are further divided into sub-categories, such as manufacturing, construction, mining, and tourism.
