Updated October 16, 2026. The Dentists Licensure Examination (DLE) is given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Dentistry. The next cycle has a written phase on November 22, 23 and 24, 2026 (Sunday to Tuesday) in NCR, Baguio, Cebu and Davao, then a practical phase from November 28 to December 5, 2026 in NCR only. PRC targets the release of results on December 14, 2026. The filing deadline is Friday, October 23, 2026, so applicants who have not yet filed should finish their LERIS application and PRC appointment before then. This guide covers the 2026 schedule, testing centers, who can take the exam, requirements, written subjects, the passing rule and how to apply.

PRC generally does not accept applications after the filing deadline, so do not wait for the last day, when appointment slots can run out. After filing, check your room and building assignment on PRC’s Room Assignment page a few days before each phase. For all other 2026 exams, see our PRC board exam schedule.
Who Can Take the Exam
Under Section 14 of Republic Act No. 9484 (the Philippine Dental Act of 2007), an applicant for the dentists licensure examination must:
- Be a citizen of the Philippines, or a foreign citizen whose country permits Filipino dentists to practice on the same basis as its own citizens (reciprocity)
- Not have been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude
- Be a graduate of a recognized and legally constituted university, college, school or institute with the degree of Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or its equivalent
- Have completed the refresher course required after failing three consecutive licensure examinations
Requirements
Always follow the documentary checklist shown in PRC LERIS for the Dentist exam, since PRC may update it. Documents commonly required of first-time board exam applicants include:
- PSA birth certificate
- PSA marriage certificate, for married female applicants using their married name
- Transcript of Records with a scanned picture and the remark “For Board Examination Purposes”
- Diploma or certificate of graduation, as shown in LERIS for your application type
- Certificate of good moral character (as specified in LERIS)
- Valid NBI clearance, when required for your application
- Recent passport-size photos in the format PRC specifies in LERIS
- Repeaters: the Notice of Admission (NOA) or other proof of a previous exam, as shown in LERIS
Bring the originals and any photocopies PRC asks for to your appointment. Pay the examination fee through the payment options in LERIS and confirm the amount shown on screen. Under PRC Commission Resolution No. 1935 (s. 2024), some repeaters may skip refiling certain documents if they took a PRC exam from 2012 onward under the same name and course and have a photo on file — see PRC’s List of Requirements.
Written Phase Subjects
Section 15 of R.A. 9484 lists the scope for dentists (the Board may recluster subjects). Recent PRC written programs group the exam into these weighted areas (same pattern used for May 2025 and November 2024 written phases):
- General and Oral Anatomy and Physiology — 15%
- General and Oral Pathology, General and Oral Microscopic Anatomy and Embryology, and Microbiology — 15%
- Restorative Dentistry, Community Dentistry and Public Health — 10%
- Fixed, Removable Partial and Complete Denture Prosthodontics and Dental Materials — 10%
- Roentgenology, Oral Diagnosis and Oral Surgery — 10%
- Anesthesiology and Pharmacology — 10%
- Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics — 10%
- Dental Jurisprudence, Ethics and Practice Management — 10%
- Periodontics and Endodontics — 10%
Always follow the official November 2026 examination program and the instructions in your NOA for exact day order and weights. PRC posts exam programs on its Downloads page. The practical phase (restorative work, fixed and removable prosthodontics, complete denture with a live patient, and related skills) is scheduled separately in NCR after the written days.
Passing Rule
Under Section 16 of R.A. 9484, the licensure examination consists of both written and practical tests. To pass, an examinee must obtain a general weighted average of at least 75%, with no rating below 50% in any subject.
