CHED Scholarship temporary suspension AY 2022-2023

The CHED will temporarily suspend the application to the CHED Scholarship Program for incoming first-year college students for Academic Year (AY) 2022-2023.

According to the Advisory released by CHED, this is due to the budget inadequacy in FY 2022. This is under the “Provision of assistance and incentives, scholarships and grants through StuFAPs” as stated in Republic Act (RA) 11639, otherwise known as the “General Appropriations Act of FY 2022”. The CHED Regional Offices are directed to disseminate this information to prevent the spreading of fake news and avoid confusion to interested student applicants.

We all know the importance of scholarships for students. It helps finance and continue their education. In addition, scholarships can help students pay for school expenses, such as tuition, room and board, and textbooks. Unfortunately, Ched Scholarship for incoming first-year college is temporarily not available for the academic year 2022-2023.

Our country has since been fighting with the pandemic and we have to acquire debt to survive what we are experiencing right now with the COVID19 virus. Budgets to other departments have been cut-off and other budgets had been realigned to adapt to the present situation. 

We will expect that the CHED scholarship program will resume as soon as the pandemic or our budget improves. But for now, we have to understand the situation not only of the Commission on Higher Education but also the whole country. What can you say with this news? Leave your comments below.
