Ocular Pharmacologist Board Exam (OPSCLE) Schedule, Requirements, and How to Apply

Updated October 16, 2026. The Ocular Pharmacologists Special Certification Licensure Examination (OPSCLE) is a computer-based PRC exam given by the Board of Optometry. Registered optometrists who pass it are certified to use the diagnostic pharmaceutical agents covered by the certification. This guide covers the legal basis, 2026 schedule, PRC requirements, how to apply through LERIS and the latest results.

Latest OPSCLE Results: September 2026

PRC released the September 2026 OPSCLE results on Thursday, October 15, 2026, the target date in the official calendar. 1 out of 2 examinees (50%) passed. Online registration for the Professional ID and Certificate of Registration starts November 23, 2026, and PRC will announce the oath-taking date later. See the passer and performance of schools on our Ocular Pharmacologist Board Exam Results page.

Why Optometrists Take the OPSCLE

Section 31 of Republic Act No. 8050, the Revised Optometry Law of 1995, requires optometrists admitted to practice before the law took effect to complete a pharmacology course prescribed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and pass a special certification exam given by the Board before they can use specific diagnostic pharmaceutical agents. The Board of Optometry set up this special certification exam through Board Resolution No. 07, s. 1999.
