Updated October 16, 2026. The Midwives Licensure Examination (MLE) is given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and the Board of Midwifery. The next exam is on November 7 and 8, 2026 (Saturday and Sunday), and PRC targets the release of results on November 11, 2026. This guide covers the 2026 schedule, who can take the exam, PRC requirements and fees, exam subjects, the passing rule and how to apply through LERIS.

Source: PRC 2026 schedule of licensure examinations (Resolution No. 2113, s. 2025). The filing period closed on October 8, 2026, so only applicants who already filed and hold a Notice of Admission (NOA) can take the November 2026 exam. PRC also held an earlier 2026 Midwives exam on April 14 and 15, 2026 (target results April 20, 2026). A second annual schedule is typical for Midwifery.
Who Can Take the Exam
Under Section 13 of Republic Act No. 7392 (the Philippine Midwifery Act of 1992), an applicant must show the Board that they:
- Are in good health and of good moral character
- Are a graduate of midwifery from a government-recognized and duly accredited institution
At the time a certificate of registration is issued, the applicant must be a citizen of the Philippines and at least 18 years old. Registered nurses who meet PRC’s additional clinical-case and training requirements may also apply; follow PRC’s current Midwife requirements list for the RN pathway.
PRC Requirements for Midwives
PRC’s Midwife requirements page and related Board of Midwifery rules generally require the following. Always confirm the live list on PRC before your appointment, because documentary details can change.
Graduate midwives (government-recognized school of midwifery)
- PSA Birth Certificate
- PSA Marriage Contract (for married female applicants)
- Transcript of Records (TOR) with scanned picture and the remark “For Board Examination Purposes”
- Record of twenty (20) deliveries handled and signed by the supervisor or tutor
- Signatory of cases should have undergone training on Expanded Functions under R.A. 7392 (see IRR Resolution No. 100), signed by the Principal or Dean and duly notarized
- Five (5) sutures and five (5) IV insertions
- For repeaters: if case requirements were completed more than five years ago, submit new cases
- Application fee: ₱600.00 (confirm the amount shown in LERIS when you pay)
Registered nurses
- PRC ID card, TOR or Board Certificate
- Record of twenty (20) deliveries handled, with records of five (5) sutures and five (5) intravenous injections, signed by the Hospital Director or Municipal Health Officer and duly notarized
- Certificate of Consent from the hospital where the cases were performed
- Certificate of Training on Expanded Function under R.A. 7392, accredited by the PRC CPD Council for Midwifery, for the registered midwife who supervised (graduate midwife and RN)
- PRC ID license and employee’s ID of the supervising registered midwife
- PRC ID license and employee’s ID of the certifying officer (must be a registered physician)
Under PRC Commission Resolution No. 1935 (s. 2024), some repeaters may skip refiling certain documents if they took a PRC exam from 2012 onward under the same name and course and have a photo on file. See PRC’s List of Requirements for details.
Midwifery Board Exam Subjects
Section 12 of R.A. 7392 lists the scope of the Midwifery licensure examination:
- Infant care and feeding
- Obstetrical anatomy and physiology
- Principles of bacteriology as applied to midwife practice
- Obstetrics
- Midwifery procedures
- Domiciliary midwifery
- Community hygiene and first aid
- Nutrition
- Ethics of midwifery practice
- Primary health care
- Professional Growth and Development
- Family planning
The Board may add other subjects with PRC approval. Always follow the official November 2026 exam program and the instructions in your NOA. PRC posts exam programs on its Downloads page.
Passing Rule
Under Section 16 of R.A. 7392, you pass if you get a general rating of at least 75% in the written test with no grade lower than 50% in any subject.
How to Apply Through PRC LERIS
- Go to PRC Online Services (LERIS) and sign in or create an account.
- Choose the examination application and select Midwives.
- Pick your exam date and testing center from the available slots.
- Pay the application fee through the payment options shown in LERIS (commonly ₱600.00 for Midwifery — confirm the amount on screen).
- Submit your documents at your PRC appointment within the filing period, then keep your Notice of Admission for exam day.

The November 2026 Midwives Licensure Examination is on November 7 and 8, 2026. PRC targets the release of results on November 11, 2026.
