Ifugao Medical Scholarship 2026: 4 Slots, Up to ₱177,000 Allowances and Qualifications

The provincial government of Ifugao has established a medical scholarship program for qualified residents pursuing a Doctor of Medicine degree at state universities and colleges. The program was established under Provincial Ordinance No. 2026-13, approved October 5, 2026. No official application opening date or deadline has been announced in the October 15 government report.

How many scholarship slots are available?

There are four slots per school year: two for District 1 and two for District 2. Municipalities within each district will receive slots on a rotational basis.

Scholarship benefits and allowances

The scholarship covers tuition and mandatory school fees not fully subsidized by the national government, plus allowances of up to ₱177,000 per year, subject to the ordinance and annual funding. The reported annual allowance breakdown is ₱26,000 for books, ₱7,000 for clothing and uniforms, ₱12,000 for miscellaneous expenses and connectivity, ₱60,000 for living expenses, ₱60,000 for lodging, and ₱12,000 for transportation.

For the fifth year or internship period, the reported allowance ceiling is ₱148,000, including a one-time ₱16,000 for licensure examination review and application fees.

Who may qualify?

  • Must be a bona fide Ifugao resident for at least three years.
  • Must belong to an indigent household, supported by a Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office certification or a valid Certificate of Indigency.
  • Must have completed, or be graduating from, an undergraduate program qualifying them for medical school.
  • Must meet the state university or college’s admission requirements and the required National Medical Admission Test score.
  • Must maintain the academic average required by the Scholarship Committee.
  • Must not receive another scholarship covering full tuition and matriculation fees; allowance-only grants may be allowed.

Students already covered under Republic Act No. 11509 (Doktor Para sa Bayan Act) are excluded from this provincial scholarship.

Return-service requirement

After passing the Physician Licensure Examination and obtaining a professional license, recipients must serve the province for a period equivalent to the years supported by the scholarship. Scholars and their parents or guardians must sign a scholarship agreement and surety bond or promissory note. Failure to complete the course or required service may require repayment of scholarship expenses plus legal interest.

How to apply and when applications open

The provincial government must develop implementing rules and regulations, and the Ifugao Medical Scholarship Committee will oversee screening and award decisions. As of the October 15, 2026 announcement, no application portal, opening date, deadline or detailed submission procedure was specified. Interested applicants should wait for the official Ifugao provincial government announcement rather than submit personal documents through unofficial links.
