CHED B2HELP to grant 5k cash to students under Bayanihan 2

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) will provide cash assistance to 60,000 students with unpaid school fees in private and public Higher Education Institutions (HEI) under Bayanihan 2 law.

CHED B2HELP

CHED launches Bayanihan 2 for Higher Education Tulong Program (B2HELP) to grant subsidies to students. A one time fixed assistance of 5,000 will be given to qualified students whose families are having financial difficulties due to community quarantine brought by the pandemic.

A total of 300M funds will be allocated for the B2HELP as a part of Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan 2).

The priority beneficiaries are the students in private HEIs with unpaid tuition and miscellaneous fees which they incurred in Academic Year (AY) 2019-2020 or AY 2020-2021.

Process of Selection

  1. Private Schools will send the list of names to CHED.

Under the B2HELP initiative, private schools will submit the list of students with unpaid tuition and miscellaneous fees to the CHED Regional Office.

2. CHEDRO evaluation.

Once received, the CHEDRO will immediately evaluate the completeness of the application documents and the information/data requested for each potential grantee. Participating HEIs with complete application documents and approved grantees shall become B2HELP Partner Institutions.

Each Private Partner Institution shall be limited to a maximum number of thirty (30) grantees during the initial selection. If there are more than 30 recommended qualified grantees, the CHEDRO shall select the first 30 names from the HEI list. The remaining recommended grantees can be considered in the next round of selection until the CHEDRO has filled its regional slot allocation.

As students in state colleges and universities (SUCs) are already enjoying free tuition and miscellaneous fees under RA 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education (UAQTE) law, students in public HEIs shall be considered only when there is still remaining unutilized funds.
