The Sim Card Registration Act requires the registration of new and existing sim cards electronically through the Telcos website or any registration facility. The law protects consumers against illegal practices including scams, smishing, and other forms of online and mobile fraud.
Registration for the sim card started last December 27, 2022, up to April 26, 2023. All Telcos subscribers should register their sim cards or they will face deactivation. Here’s a guide for sim registration to Smart, TNT, Globe, TM, and Dito subscribers.
One of the requirements for sim card registration is a valid ID. You are required to upload it to their portal. But what are the valid IDs included? Here’s a list so you can prepare ahead of activating your sim card.
For Telcos subscribers (Smart/TNT/Globe/TM) You can upload either of the following IDs:
- Passport;
- Philippine Identification;
- Social Security System ID;
- Government Service Insurance System E-Card;
- Driver’s License;
- National Bureau of Investigation Clearance;
- Police Clearance;
- Firearms’ License to Own and Posses ID;
- Professional Regulation Commission ID;
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines ID;
- Overseas Workers Welfare Administration ID;
- Bureau of Internal Revenue ID;
- Voter’s ID;
- Citizen’s Card;
- Unified Multi-purpose Identification Card;
- Person with Disabilities Card; or
- Other valid government-issued ID with a Photo
