The Department of Science and Technology- Science Education Institute is looking for those who want to pursue master’s and graduate Degree program. Fortunato “Boy” T. dela Pena the Secretary of DOST announced the availability of 1640 new slots for Master of Science and 765 slots for Doctor of Philosophy(PhD) scholarships.
The Institute is set to announce sometime in August this Year about 12,000 new qualifiers or incoming freshmen to the DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship program. Another 2,000 scholarship qualifiers for the Junior level Science Scholarship for students who are already in their third year college, The DOST Chief said.
The DOST Secretary noted that they have a nationwide scholars in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics of about 43,493. Of these, 36,452 are at the undergraduate level, 2,438 are pursuing their PhD Degrees, and 4,603 are pursuing their Masters Degree. He further said that 218 MS and PhD Scholars are studying in 25 countries for Foreign Graduate Scholarship Programs.
Dela Pena said, “These scholars are taking up DOST priority courses in specialized fields where the country is not yet strong, or are not being offered yet in the Philippines, These courses include space science and engineering, material science and nanotechnology, virology, data science, and analytics, biomedical engineering, and courses in emerging technologies, among others.”

About the DOST Scholarship for Master and Doctoral degree
The DOST SEI announces the opening of scholarship for qualified males and females to pursue Master’s and Doctoral programs in priority S&T areas through the implementation of the Accelerated Science and Technology Human Resource Development Program (ASTHRDP).

Who are eligible to apply?
The applicant must possess the following:
- Filipino citizen;
- Not more than 50 years old at the time of application;
- Be in good health condition;
- Pass the admission requirements for graduate studies at any of the NSC member-universities and;
- Pass the interview and other screening procedures.

Requirements
- Accomplished ASTHRDP-NSC Information Sheet/ Application Form which can be downloaded at www.sei.dost.gov.ph or thru the websites of the NSC member- universities
- Birth Certificate (Photocopy);
- Certified True Copy of the Official Transcript of Records;
- Endorsement from:MSTwo former professors in collegePhDTwo former professors in the Master’s program
- If employed, recommendation from head of agency and permission from head of agency to take a leave of absence while on scholarship or proof of resignation or termination of contract;
- Medical Certificate stating that applicant is of good health condition and fit to study from a licensed physician with his/her PRC license number indicated;
- Valid NBI Clearance;
- Letter of Admission with Regular status from the Program Head of the accepting institution which should include the evaluation sheet and;
- Approved Program of Study.
Additional Requirements for Lateral Applicants
- Certification from university indicating the following:
- number of graduate units required in the program
- number of graduate units earned with corresponding grades
Accomplished application form and other documentary requirements may be submitted through e-mail to the Office of the ASTHRDP Project Leader of the desired NSC member-university on or before the deadline.
Hard copies of the same must be sent through mail.
