DepEd Commons: online study platform now free of charge

The Department of Education on Tuesday said that the online learning platforms can now be access free of charge for Globe and TM subscribers.

In partnership with Globe Telecom, the DepEd Commons now more accessible especially in these times of crisis were students need to stay at home. Globe stated that even if the DepEd commons now free, links that direct outside the platform will still incur charges.

Meanwhile, Alain Del B. Pascua, DepEd Undersecretary for Administration said, “We are facing many challenges in ensuring the continuity of education, especially in this extremely difficult situation that we are in.  In partnership with Globe, DepEd is steadily moving forward in bringing educational resources to the teachers and the learners wherever they may be.”

What is DepEd Commons?

DepEd Commons is an online platform both for teachers and students to continue learning and advancing their knowledge even while on quarantine.

It contains online quizzes and exercises for k to 12 learners as well as content for Alternative Learning System(ALS). These online review materials and Open Educational Resources (OER)are authored by public school teachers who are subject matter experts.

DepEd Commons also include Globe e-library which is a virtual library for teachers and learners featuring e-books for age-appropriate learners. It comprises children storybook to young adult textbooks in Math, Science, English, Filipino, etc.

How to access DepEd Commons?

You can access the platform by visiting this link https://commons.deped.gov.ph/.

Fill out the needed information like your school type (Private or Public), your School ID or School Name.

Tick the box whether you are a Student or a Teacher. Input your Full Name and Email Address. Click the save button.

As of this writing, the online learning platform has now over 4,000,000 users.
