The Philippine Science High School (PSHS) offers Grades 7-12 education, under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). The PSHS offers a world-class curriculum specializing in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Philippine Science High School NCE Application Now Open
The Philippine Science High School is now accepting online applications for incoming Grade 7 (AY 2024-2025).
There are over 16 campuses of PSHS. Every year, they conduct the National Competitive Examination (NCE), a one-time screening examination to determine the qualifiers for PSHS scholarship. The NCE is for incoming Grade 7 students only.
Here are some important dates to keep in mind:
- The application period for the 2023 National Competitive Examination begins on June 13, 2023.
- The deadline for applications is on October 13, 2023.
- Only the top 15,000 qualifiers, determined based on the Predicted NCE Grade (PNG) computation, will be eligible to take the NCE on November 18, 2023.
- Out of the 15,000 examinees, 1,920 successful candidates will have the opportunity to enroll as incoming seventh graders for the school year 2024-2025 at their preferred campus.
Who is eligible to apply for the PSHS Scholarship?
A grade 6 elementary pupil in SY 2023-2024, from a duly recognized school by the Department of Education who meets the following criteria is eligible to apply.
Applicant Must:
- have a final grade of 85% or better in Science and Mathematics, evidenced by the student’s report card. If the student’s grades in Science or Math are below 85%, then, he/she must provide evidence that he/she belongs to the upper 10% of the batch;
- not be more than 15 years old by June 30, 2024;
- be a Filipino citizen with no pending or approved application as an immigrant to any foreign country;
- have at least a satisfactory rating (or its equivalent) in his/her Character Rating in his/her report card in Grade 5 or on SY 2022 – 2023;
- have not previously applied for admission to PSHS
- preferably, be in good health and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program.
PISAY Scholarship Benefits
Free tuition fee, free loan of textbooks, monthly stipend, Uniform/transportation/living allowances for low-income groups, and dormitory accommodation (if applicable).
Aside from the world-class education that PSHS provides, with no tuition fee, a PSHS scholar receives a monthly stipend of Php 500.00. In addition to this, living allowances are provided, see the table below for the classification of allowances, based on the socio-economic status of a scholar. Scholars also avail of a free loan of textbooks.

PCHS NCE Requirements
For walk-in applicants:
- Fully accomplished application form,(incomplete form will not be processed);
- Recent 1×1 ID pictures.
- Non-refundable PHP 300 processing fee for private school students (based on the applicant’s Grade 5 school);
- Free or no processing fee for public school students and students with full scholarships from private schools;
- Certified true copy of report card (SY 2022 – 2023) by the class adviser/principal.
- If the final grades in Science or Math are below 85%, certification or proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch.
- Certification from the private school if the pupil-applicant is on full scholarship.
For applicants online:
- Scanned/Digitized copy of most recent 1×1 ID pictures
- Scanned/Digitized copy of Proof of Payment of the Php 300 processing fee for students who were admitted to a private school in fifth Grade (payment can be made at https://nce.pshs.edu.ph/);
- Free or no processing fee for public school students and students with full scholarships from private schools;
- Scanned/Digitized copy of Certified true copy of report card (SY 2022 – 2023) by the class adviser/principal.
- Scanned/Digitized copy of certification of proof that the child belongs to the upper 10% of the batch if the final grades in Science or Math are below 85% and,
- Certification from the private school if the pupil-applicant is on full scholarship.
How to apply for the PSHS NCE?
Prospective students interested in joining the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) have several options for applying. You can choose to apply directly to the nearest PSHS campus, the DOST Regional Offices, or the Provincial Science and Technology Offices. Alternatively, you can apply conveniently online through the official platform at https://nce.pshs.edu.ph/.
Examination permits will be issued by the PSHS campus where your application was processed. For applications filed at DOST offices, exam permits will be mailed to you or your School Principals for distribution to student applicants from your schools. If you apply online, exam permits will be auto-generated at the end of the application process.
In case you don’t receive your exam permit two (2) weeks before the examination on November 18, 2023, please contact the nearest PSHS campus, DOST Regional Office, DOST Provincial Science and Technology Office, or the PSHS System Admissions Office for assistance.
