Today is the first day of the vaccination campaign of the government using the Sinovac vaccine. It is being implemented right now as of this writing in UP-PGH, in the presence of Mayor Isko Moreno of Manila, Press Secretary Harry Roque along other cabinet members. They made a survey about the vaccine and only 10 percent are willing to be vaccinated in UP-PGH but the government is positive that this will improve after the first day of a successful vaccination campaign.
The vaccine is being doubted because of its 50% efficacy rate but the Duterte government says that it is being used successfully in other countries. Before the vaccine will be administered they will be doing some vital signs examination to determine if you are fit to undergo it. After the vaccination, you will be monitored if there will be an adverse side effect in your body.
Government officials like Harry Roque are setting an example that the vaccine is safe by going through the vaccination himself to erase the doubt in the minds of the people. The UP-PGH is in a festive mode right now with thorough coverage of the media in this memorable event of the first day of vaccination.
Sinovac Vaccine Arrival in the Philippines
Yesterday we knew that the President personally went to the airport to welcome the arrival of the Sinovac vaccine coming from China and said that the vaccine is being donated to us for being their friend. We knew that the president is vocal about our relationship with China and always reminding us that they are an ally and a friend. It is not unfamiliar to us that China helps the Philippines in its Build, Build, Build program under President Duterte.
While this is a momentous event, the majority of the people are still skeptical about the Sinovac vaccine and prefer to wait for Pfizer or AstraZeneca because of its higher efficacy rate. But nonetheless, the government is rolling on the vaccine campaign so that we can have a normal day-to-day life that has been halted by the covid19 pandemic.
There are 178 people on the list who are willing to be vaccinated in UP-PGH and one by one they are lining up to get a dose of the vaccine. We don’t know if the President already been vaccinated but in his interviews, he said that he will be the last to undergo such vaccination, the important thing is the people will be vaccinated so that we can continue the normalcy of life and we can go to places without minding the covid19 virus because we already have the protection in our system.
There will be doubts in the coming days if it’s worth being vaccinated with Sinovac or just wait for Pfizer or AstraZeneca but the government is pushing the vaccine to be used all over the Philippines, for the government the vaccination is more important than the name of the vaccine because they are all the same in giving protection to the Covid19 virus. We will update you about the vaccination campaign in the coming days; right now the government is happy for the successful first day of vaccination.
