With the approval of an additional 27 schools for free tuition, more students will now enjoy free education in college.
Currently, a total of 76 Local Universities and Colleges (LUCs) are eligible for Free Higher Education: fifty-three (53) in Luzon, nine (9) in Visayas, and fourteen (14) in Mindanao. See the complete lists of State Universities and Local Universities here with free tuition.
According to the Commission on Higher Education, the added 27 LUCs will increase the number of public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for incoming AY 2019-2021 to 111 that will implement Free Higher Education (FHE).
The CHED is committed to fully implement RA 10931 or the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act to increase access to higher education so that more Filipino students, particularly those coming from the poor families, can go to college with government support.
